Holiday greetings to all from Designed in Singapore!

Yes yes, I'm afraid in between the holiday partying and getting smashed, many exciting updates have been missed out! For all you shopaholics and eager beaver fashionistas, DIS has much in store for you in 2008!

First and foremost (not to mention most importantly) we've moved from our old hole in the wall boutique at 15A Mohamed Sultan Road to a more prominent location just down the street at

We were previously located on the second floor which left many wondering where in blazes Designed in Singapore was. Well fear no more! Here are pics...

That aside, Designed in Singapore has also had lots of media coverage lately; appearing in magazines such as Singapore Seventeen, Her World and Channel U's Wild Singapore!

Our Runway

DIS took off our first runway appearance on FashionTV's Cruise , "F.Diamond". We Presented 3 of our distinctive designers Edmund Ooi, Jean Ling and Rayson Tan in this FashionTV World Tour. The event was greeted by lots of people from the fashion scene in Singapore, hence it was some exposures and experience for our designers.

Staff Feedback

The company treats every staff equally and welfare of the staffs were taken into consideration. Every staff's comments and thoughts were taken into account before decisions were made.

Staff Feedback

This is to rectify certain claims that DIS staff who were mistreated. Hence as a staff of the company I wish to give everyone a piece of my mind.

The Management of Designed in Singapore have given sufficient welfare and treatment to their staff and salary were not once delayed. Whatever so reason for my late hours at work in the office are based on a personal self-learning experience so that I am able to learn more. I wasn’t exploited by the company neither threatened nor force to work.

The decision made for the dismissal of an employee were not base by a person but by the whole team. Dismissal at early point of time was not appropriate due to many factors to protect and safeguard interests out of goodwill of Designed in Singapore .

WE ARE MOVING ON!!!

DESIGNED IN SINGAPORE PHASE II

Since our opening on 27 June 2007 till now, we have over 54 designers. But sad to say we had to dismiss one during the process. Anyway things are moving on strong with a few more capable management staffs and companies involve in the up coming projects. We are handling projects like Jewelry, SG Bear, Lighting project, Crazy Robot, Exhibitions, Iron Furniture, SFIC, Laptop cases, etc. We are lauching into Hong Kong and Japan soon in the next few months time.

We will have our official Launch when we hit 101 designers. More details coming up soon...

DIS coming to its reality! SINGAPORE'S FIRST "DESIGNED IN SINGAPORE" BOUTIQUE!

Thank you for believing in the movement that DIS is pushing forward. Here, we're pleasantly surprised that many have shown support to us. For that, we are really appreciative that so many of us (Singapore's very own designers & artists) believe in selling "innovative ideas" in Singapore, to Singaporeans and to visitors of Singapore. To those who are still wondering what DIS is all about, where are we located and how are we moving on, here you go;

WHAT IS DESIGNED IN SINGAPORE? Who are the people behind this scene? What is the main factor that is continually stirring the passion of these people? Firstly, we are not from the government body. We are supported and funded by Spring Singapore & Temasek Polytechnic. We are existing now because a proposal was written slightly more than a year ago. This proposal went through many ammendments and have gone through various panals of judges. It was a tough process.

So what do we gain? We will only gain when designers like you join us for a longer run. Behind DIS Retail Space, there is a Multi-Disciplinary Design Firm (DIS Consultancy). This firm provides all sort of design services to companies and individuals. How can all these be achieved and how does the whole system works? We will share with the designers that join us, or, upon request. :)

We are a group of designers (frontline and behind the scene) who strongly believe in Singapore Art and Design. We believe that local design is somewhere we can start to create a bombastic synergy.

We will be moving into our new office (not fully furnished yet) by the end of this week. Do feel free to drop by, but do give us a call first. As for the three divisions in our entire retail space, these are the updates:

OURspace:
NAFA's students are placing their sofa set, coffee table, etc in our space. Many pieces of lighting are filling up the space by the end of this week as well.

OURlifestyle:
Accessories are coming in strong and specially designed island display cabinet are in the process of factory manufacturing.

OURwardrobe:
Flling up really fast.

Painting (general layers) of the floor, ceiling and walls are currently proceeding before we move in. We are also in the mid of the renovation, inviting graffiti artists to "dress" up our walls.

So, till then! Our first launch will be during the end of this month (MAY)!
